JOHANNES BRAHMS: Hungarian Dance No. 5
Arranged for bassoon quartet by Michael A. Grant

Description

JOHANNES BRAHMS: Hungarian Dance No. 5
Arranged for bassoon quartet by Michael A. Grant

Brahms’ series of 21 Hungarian Dances for four-hand piano was completed in 1869, and has since become one of his most popular works. The most famous of these dances – number 5 – was based on the piece ‘Memories of Bártfa’ by Béla Kéler, although Brahms (like Bizet with his Habanera) mistakenly thought it was a traditional folk tune.

This arrangement can be performed as a bassoon quartet or (by eliminating the optional 4th part) as a trio.
