Description
SCOTT JOPLIN: The Entertainer
Arranged for bassoon quartet by Michael A. Grant
‘The Entertainer’ is arguably the most famous composition by the master of ragtime, Scott Joplin (rivalled only by his ‘Maple Leaf Rag’). This is largely due to its use in the 1973 film ‘The Sting’, in an arrangement by Marvin Hamlisch. It is subtitled ‘A Rag Time Two Step’, which was a popular form of dance when the piece was written in 1902.
This arrangement can be performed as a bassoon quartet or (by eliminating the optional 4th part) as a trio.
